Senator Joni Ernst joins charge to crack down on sex abuse, harassment of prison staff

U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R - Iowa) announced on Wednesday her support of the bipartisan Prison Staff Safety Enhancement Act to prevent sexual misconduct in the prison system.

Ernst's office said from 2019 to 2023, there were 1,600 female staff members attacked by inmates at Thomson Federal Prison, just across the Iowa border in Illinois.
