Acting Deputy Director Designated

On January 20, 2025, Federal Bureau of Prisons Deputy Director William Lothrop was named Acting Director following Colette Peters separation from the agency. He subsequently designated Associate Deputy Director, Kathleen (Kathy) Toomey as the Acting Deputy Director.

As Acting Deputy Director, Ms. Toomey will oversee the operations of eight Bureau divisions, six regional offices, two staff training centers, 22 residential reentry management offices, the National Institute of Corrections and 122 field operations. She will also be responsible for the oversight and management of approximately 35,000 staff and approximately 160,000 federal inmates.
